Real Housewives of New Jersey

Filed under: Things That I Love, Entertainment — Tristan Panasik @ 22:36

Let’s be up front and make sure that we’re all clear about one thing - I am in love with the Bravo series “Real Housewives!” Even more so, I am in obsessed with the second season of the show from New Jersey. With that said, I was super psyched to see tonight’s episode where Teresa and Danielle have an argument in a fancy establishment and the police are called.  To my dismay, the drama unfolded with two minutes left in the show… and the cliffhanger doesn’t resume for a full two weeks!  The next episode is on July 12th.Needless to say, I am bummed.  Let down.  Unfulfilled.  Cranky. Bitter.  And just plain disappointed.   Darn you, Bravo!

John Gosselin’s Tattoo, Ew!

Filed under: Gossip, Entertainment — Tristan Panasik @ 22:30

I have always been of the belief that we should stop talking about some of these “celebrities” who do dumb things just to get attention.  On that list is none other than John Gosselin, the dad of eight who has showcased some bazaar behavior over the last few years. Yet I feel the need to share his rather strange new tattoo, if not for the fact that it is huge and ugly, then for the fact that it includes the names of his eight children along with a cryptic ninth name.I’m sure the real celebrity bloggers will be talking about this over the next 24 hours, but I highly suggest you take a peek at the image below to deduct your own opinions.blog_jon_gosselin_tattoo.jpg

Toy Story 3

Filed under: Things That I Love, Entertainment, Movies — Tristan Panasik @ 10:47

Let’s be up front and admit that it has been nearly 2 decades since I saw Toy Story and I can’t recall ever seeing Toy Story 2.  Yet, I had heard a lot of hype about Toy Story 3 - from friends and not from advertising - and a nice relaxed movie night was a welcome idea for a hot summer night.  Better yet, the movie was playing in 3D at the Imax theatre at the Palisades Mall, and having seen Avatar in 3D (although not in Imax) I knew this would make the movie experience twice as nice.

The movie - fantastic.  The theatre experience - not so much.  Let’s start with the good.  Toy Story 3 was hilarious with a decent, non cheesy storyline.  As an adult, I could appreciate the plot just as much as the 5 year old who was sitting next to me.  And the addition of Barbi and Ken - AWESOME!  The 3D experience was pretty cool too, adding some depth and excitement.  Best of all, the movie was under 2 hours which was a welcome experience after the epic 3 hour Avatar movie from 6 months ago.

The bad - the Imax theatre at the Palisades Mall wasn’t really all that great. The theatre looks old, the seats were broken, the floor was sticky, and the 3D glasses didn’t look like they were clean.  I also expected a domed screen whereas this theatre just had a very large flat screen.  With this in mind, I could have saved $6 a ticket and could have seen the same movie in my local theatre with fresh clean glasses and less travel time.

The Procrastinator’s Pitstop recommendation:

1. If you haven’t already, go see Toy Story 3 (in 3D if you can)

2. Skip the Imax theatre at the Palisades Mall.

World Cup Fever

Filed under: Sports — Tristan Panasik @ 05:27

As a former soccer player, I would like to say that I follow the sport religiously.  The truth is that I don’t.  Yet we all have a chance to be honorary soccer fanatics now that the World Cup is in full swing. What’s even better?  How about team USA’s phenomenal performance lately.  Granted, we’ve had a couple of good goals taken away from us, and Dempsey ended yesterday’s game with quite a bloody lip, but the good news is that we did it!  We scored a miraculous last minute (literally) goal and have advanced!I don’t know about you, but whenever USA plays, I get excited.  And who knows, this year’s World Cup just might turn me into an everyday soccer fan…. or perhaps, I might even turn back into an actual soccer player.
