A judge has finally ruled in the case concerning Nike Bollea (aka Nick Hogan) whose friend was critically injured in the infamous car crash last summer. The 17 year old pleaded no contest and will serve eight months in jail, after which he will be put on five years’ probation. After his release from prison, Nick must perform 500 hours of community service, as well as complete a DUI school within his first year on the outside.
This evening I saw a commercial for a YouTube video that looks too unbelievable to be true. I won’t give the whole story away, but I will start you off with this question - who would win in a fight in the wild: buffalo vs. lion? buffalo vs. crocodile? baby buffalo calf vs. multiple lions AND a crocodile? Watch for yourself. http://youtube.com/watch?v=LU8DDYz68kM
Anyone who knows me knows of my obsession with Hawaii. After visiting for 2 weeks last winter, I have decided that I would love to move to Maui one day. The only deterrents being the high cost of living, lack of PR/marketing jobs on the islands, and the natives who disapprove of the mainlanders who try to ‘take over’ and monetize their once peaceful and sacred paradise.
Earlier this week a native Hawaiian group (which is only one of many) has occupied the grounds of the old Hawaiian monarchy’s royal residence in an interesting attempt to demonstrate their dedication to stay and do the business of the kingdom’s government. During the turmoil, visitors to the Iolani Palace had to be turned away.
“It is through a greater realm than ours” that the group took this action, said Mahealani Kahau, elected leader of the group, called Hawaiian Kingdom Government. “Today and every day, we will be here to assume our role.”
According to CNN the group, along with others, rejects statehood and seeks to return to the constitutional monarchy that ended in 1893 when a group of politicians, businessmen and sugar planters — aided by the U.S. minister to Hawaii — overthrew the kingdom’s government.
It’s official kids, Ashlee and Pete are engaged. Ashlee confirmed the engagement on friendsoreneimes.com, saying “We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best. Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes - it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, but we wanted you to hear it straight from us.”
Earlier today, Velvet Revolver announced that the band will be splitting with its lead singer Scott Weiland. While it is easy to initially speculate that the break up is a result of Weiland’s checkered past, not to mention his recent DUI charges (to which Weiland has plead not guilty and is free on $40,000 bail), the break up actually coincides with the recent announcement that Stone Temple Pilots have reunited and will be touring together soon!
Stay tuned!!
While sifting through some news updates, I came across iReport. iReport is a user-generated site from CNN that allows users to upload their own news stories in real time. Since CNN does not make an effort to verify the authenticity of each story, it is possible that inaccurate items will be posted; but the notion that you could be the first person to break a story worldwide is pretty cool, not to mention the fact that your story could actually appear on CNN!
